ABOUT THE CLUB
From grassroots juniors to senior competition, Tweed Coast Tigers is a united AFL club built on inclusion, development, and community pride across the Northern Rivers.
Proudly representing the Northern Rivers, Tweed Coast Tigers is a united AFL club committed to inclusion, development, and building strong connections both on and off the field.
The Tweed Coast Tigers AFL Club is a proud and successful Northern Rivers based AFL Club playing in the AFL Queensland competition. Although we have only been around since 2006 for the Junior Club and 2010 for the Senior Club, we play a key role in the Northern Rivers community including towns from Byron Bay to the suburbs of The Gold Coast. At the end of the 2022 season at an extraordinary Annual General Meeting the junior and senior clubs were amalgamated into the one club with a new Board being formed.
The Club’s vision is to be an all-inclusive club regardless of race, religion, gender and beliefs. We pride ourselves on providing a great environment from the smallest junior footballer to the oldest supporter. We strive to be the club of choice for all participants and have an ethos at committee and member level of “getting things done”.
We field teams from the Auskick, Junior, and Youth spaces all the way through to senior football, with a strong focus on female participation.
In the junior space, our main focus is on having fun first, developing the skills of the children, participation, sportsmanship, and finally playing the game. We continue to grow year on year with our numbers doubling across all grades and gender in the last 6 years. We have a very strong focus on providing and developing the right coaches for our children to ensure we continue to have the best environment to see our kids grow, both in football ability, but more importantly, as great kids and community members.
In the senior space we again have a huge focus on developing great people and providing a space where footballers feel welcome and want to be a part of a great club. Yes, we want to win premierships, but most importantly we want good people at our club. Again, we have a huge focus on our coaching staff to “coach” the person and secondly develop the player.
Tweed Coast Tigers success is largely due to the club’s strong core values and a commitment to provide a great environment for all who wish to be part of our club. This extends to our players, members, supporters and sponsors, both on and off the field. This success is built on the great people who have developed and supported the club over its history and nurtured football in the Northern Rivers.
Our culture defines who we are and how we operate as a club. These principles guide our players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters both on and off the field.
To promote each and every member of the Tweed Coast Tigers to become a better person who is happy and proud to be a part of the club.
To promote every player to reach the highest level they strive for in regards to potential and performance.
To provide the best possible experience of Australian Rules Football, from the youngest juniors through to our seniors and beyond, and also our supporters and opposition clubs and players, regardless of race, religion, gender or beliefs.
To be recognised as one of the best football clubs amongst our peers and a “club of choice” for anyone looking to join.
To be an integral part of our local community and to provide a club environment that is inclusive of all.
To have a committee and club structure with a culture of “getting things done” and being professional in all processes.
